We at St John’s are extremely lucky to be one of the few primary schools in Hertfordshire to still have our own swimming pool. Our pupils benefit greatly from using the pool during our Summer Term to increase their confidence in water and develop their skills in swimming. Our pool is outdoor and approximately 106 sq. metres in size. Our pool depth is level at 1 metre and is heated during May to September to a temperature of 27° so nice and comfortable for our children to learn in.
During the summer holidays St John’s opens up the pool to all the families of school regularly between the hours of 2pm-4pm. The children can meet up with their school friends each time they come and parents can sit and chat on poolside chairs.
The PTFA very kindly manage the summer swim with volunteers manning
the pool. We always have a qualified lifeguard on site and when the weather is good ice lollies are on sale on the playground for all to enjoy. Our field is also open to enjoy a picnic with friends and family.
There is a small fee charged to all summer swimmers to cover the costs of the pools up-keep. There are two ways to enjoy our summer swimming. You can choose to pay and swim per session per child, or buy a summer swim pass to enjoy unlimited swimming during the whole of the summer holidays for all your family.
It’s a great way to keep the children fit, happy and busy during the summer holidays!
