Year 2 Nativity set gift - December 2016

Year 2 have been really delighted to receive a very beautiful gift of a knitted nativity set. Each figure is beautifully made and the set has taken Molly's grandma Dee and her friend Chris almost a year to complete. It is a very special gift and one that is treasured by this class and indeed will delight many children to come. So far in Advent we have the figures of Mary and Joseph in our prayer corner with the figures of baby Jesus, the Shephers and Kings awaiting their turn.

Year 2 Visit to the Bevis Marks Synagogue in London - November 2016

Year 2 travelled to London to learn more about Judaism during our Faith's week in the Autumn Term. We met Mr Bitton who told us about this synagogue which is the oldest synagogue in England. We learned that men and women sit separately and to show respect the boys wore skull caps in the synagogue. Mr Bitton explained the prayer shawls to us. He showed us Torah scrolls and Hebrew writing and we asked him about the Star of David and where the symbol comes from. Then we explored the synagogue and found the Ark of the Covenant. There was a lot to learn about and our guide Mr Bitton said a prayer in Hebrew to bless us on our way at the end.
